Historic home with a fascinating and contrasting style
At the gates of Cremona, in Persico Dosimo, stands a historic residence with a charming but contrasting style built between the end of the '600 and the beginning of the '700. In the beginning, Villa Calciati, it was supposed to be a rustic hunting lodge but then it was so richly decorated as to leave the guest breathless. The wrought iron gates open onto the courtyard in front of the villa and the lush gardens. The façade, linear but imposing, has regular openings that recall the style and elegance of other times. The entrance door leads to the main hall frescoed in eighteenth-century style and dominated by a wooden loggia. From the latter you can enjoy an extraordinary glance and overall. As in all period residences, there is no lack of private church. At Villa Calciati the small place of worship is located north-east of the complex and is dated 1709. The church, where mass is still celebrated today, was built by the nobleman Gerolamo Gerenzani.
